Women in Construction Week highlights all the great initiatives and work of women within the construction industry. This year’s theme, ‘Many Paths, One Mission’, celebrates the different journeys women have taken towards the same goal: strengthening and amplifying the success of women in the construction industry.
The stigma around women working in construction has drastically reduced, however, women still only represent a small percentage of the workforce, which is predominantly filled with men. This week focuses of the fantastic achievements of women in construction and spreads the word of the endless opportunities the industry can provide.
Design MEP will always be an inclusive and forward-thinking company. We are proud to have included women in our team since starting the business and hope to continue to work with and support women in construction to build towards a more inclusive working environment for future generations of women in construction.
Katie Rouse, Office Manager
‘I am fairly new to the Construction Industry having worked in Travel for over 15 years, where I mostly worked with women. It has been a big change jumping into construction, however, I have found there are a lot more opportunities for women than I first thought both in the industry and within Design MEP.
I am proud to work with some inspiring women and be part of changing the stigma around women working in construction.’
Paris Curling, Graduate Mechanical Engineer
‘It’s great to have this week to not only support but to celebrate women working in the construction field and provide new opportunities to open doors for others. It is so important to change the stereotypes women face and negative perceptions when it comes to construction careers and creating a new face of greater diversity.
It’s a personal honour to be a part of this community and this industry.’
